Pereg's examination of institutional structures as a dictating infrastructure for exclusion, while emphasising the role of monuments, has led her to develop the term Awarding Objects. Awarding Objects refer to objects that function as mechanisms influencing the perception of individual worthiness in society, acting as 'reflectors' and tools for the realisation of social norms. These objects serve as a concession and a validation of the individual.
Focusing on their role in preserving the immortalisation of hierarchical structures makes it possible to undermine them. Through the manipulation of these structures, the work allows a deviation from their original function to reveal social mechanisms that represent an interplay system based on social expectations and recognition through conditioned behaviours. The work investigates the visual code of objects, which is created by paradigms and their implications for the definition and acceptance of individual identities.
